The
Kobu-Jitsu (or weapons art) that is taught at DoNoKai Temple is the Zen Bei
Koku Bushikan Kobu-Jitsu system, which was developed in the late 1950s by
Robert L. Willingham Shihan, with the help of many notable Sensei.
The system includes the Kaibo (short stick or
nightstick), the Jo (4-ft staff), the Bo (6-ft staff), the Tonfa (a pair of
rice grinder handles), Nunchatku (rice flails, sometimes mispronounced "nunchucks"),
the Kama (a pair of sickles used to harvest Rice), Sai (a pair of metal pins
used to plant rice), the Katana (Japanese Samurai sword), the war fan (a fan
with spiked metal spines), and the Naginata (a short sword on a long staff).
